First Frost Sangria

First Frost Sangria

Last night was the first frost of the year and we thought theres no better way to welcome the cold weather than with a First Frost Sangria. This spiced sangria will take the chill off any cold night and bring out your holiday spirit! πŸ™‚

served

First Frost Sangria
1 bottle of chardonnay
1 orange
1 pear
1 apple
1/2 pomegranate-de-seeded
3 t honey
1/4 C hot water
1/2 C apple cider
1/2 t cinnamon
dash nutmeg
*20 oz club soda
Rosemary sprigs and cinnamon sticks for garnish (optional, but highly recommended. It’s very pretty πŸ™‚ )

First, cut your pear, apple, and orange into rings, chunks, or whatever shape you want.

Next, in a small bowl, combine your hot water with the honey. Mix the honey until dissolved.

Now combine everything into a pitcher and stir. We also like to put a small bowl of pomegranate seeds beside the sangria because, lets be honest, the pomegranate seeds are the prettiest part of this drink. Β To be in full holiday spirit, drink from a festive glass πŸ™‚

*If you’re planning on serving this drink immediately, go ahead and add your club soda. If you’re not planning on serving immediately, hold off on adding the club soda. The longer it sits, the flatter it gets, and no one likes flat soda πŸ™‚ In this case, just keep the bottle of soda by the sangria and the guests can top off their glasses individually to ensure full bubbly goodness.

This cocktail is best served with a hot fire, good friends, or your favorite book.
